Vuslat Çamkerten

Vuslat Çamkerten is a Turkish writer and illustrator. She studied Philosophy at Middle East Technical University (METU) and later completed an MBA at Istanbul Bilgi University.

 

Her debut novel, Ona Çok Benziyorum (Becoming Him), was published in 2019. In 2021, her short story Sonu Gelmiş Ülkede, Bir Drag Queen Hikâyesi (A Drag Queen Story in a Country That Has Reached Its End) was published as an artist's book, followed later that year by her short story collection Görenler Olmuştur (Some Have Seen It). Her latest book, Tüfekle Vurulacak Şeyler (Things to Be Shot with a Rifle), was published by İletişim Publishing in 2024.

 

Shaping her narrative universe through words, images, forms, and colour, Çamkerten sees writing and illustration as two creative forces that continually nourish one another.

 

She develops illustration and narrative-driven book projects with the London-based publisher Thames & Hudson. She also designs book covers for Notos Kitap, Aganta Kitap, and Notos, one of Türkiye's leading literary magazines. Alongside her artistic practice, she leads philosophy workshops for children and creative reading and creative writing workshops for adults.

 

She lives and works in Istanbul.
